Slight Risk For Severe Storms Today

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog on this very warm Thursday. Some of you will be tuning in later today to watch the Kentucky Wildcats take on Western Kentucky in their first game of the NCAA Tourny.

Let's get to today's headlines! The SPC has issued a slight risk for severe thunderstorms for much of the state of Kentucky for today. Here's a look at the map:

Thats going to mainly produce damaging winds and maybe some large hail and thats about all. Now I do want to talk about our next REAL threat for severe thunderstorms. Take a look at this picture and this should show you what all I'm talking about:
This is the GFS hinting at a closed area of low pressure for later on in next week. This could produce strong to severe thunderstorms for our area if this holds true to happening. Temperatures for next week looks to be up into the 70s much like right now but the only difference is that the humidity will be with us and that will help fuel the development of thunderstorms.

Now how long will these temperatures be with us? Well I can tell you that they will be with us for at least the next 7 days! That sounds good to me but like I've said in the last posts we canoot rule out the chance for some late afternoon and early evening thunderstorms during those days.

Enjoy this very nice weather, have a great day and even better evening and go Cats!
Take care! :)
