Cold Monday

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! The title of the post says it all, Cold Monday. Early this morning some areas saw a swath of snow on the ground. Down here in southeastern Kentucky we didn't hardly see any at all!

The clipper system moved further to the north at the last minute than what was expected. Anyways now that the snow is gone whats next for us in the world of weather? Well we have a much needed warm up in store. Let's start with tonight. Temperatures will fall into the mid and upper 20s with windchills into the teens for some places especally for area that have a snowpack in place on the ground. Tomorrow temperatures will soar almost 30 degrees into the mid and upper 50s for highs. Wednesday looks to be another great day with temperatures even higher into the low and mid 60s for some.

The next major system to impact us will be on Thursday when a slow moving cutoff low pressure system moves through our area bringing a few waves of showers and thunderstorms to our area. The GFS model is really running wild with rainfall projections. The GFS shows between 2 and 3 inches of rain to our area here in southeastern Kentucky and even more the further west in Kentucky you live. Some areas in western Kentucky could pick up 4 inches of rain if the GFS model rainfall output holds true but thats a bit extreme.

I'll have more updates on this system in the coming days have a great evening and take care everyone! :)
